When My wife had the problem, there was no receive CTCSS on, I don't know 
about the rest of them but most of us were working the same events and most 
art simplex with no tone. I'll shut the battery saver off in my wife's but I 
hope it holds. I'm not going to the trouble of reprogramming that thing. 
I've had a lot of radios over the years and never seen that problem with any 
other ones commercial or ham. I run CTCSS as well any time I possibly can 
and have never seen that .
