The uv5 can be programmed from the key board, a little tricky but not to 
bad once you get the hang of it.  I don't know if you can on the others 
or not.  AS I understand it, for the radio to be type accepted, keyboard 
programming isn't supposed to be available, but for some reason the 
uv5-r sslipped through.

oh yes, and the last I knew, none of the free programming software is 
usable with speech, I bought the rt systems which cost me more than the 
radio, but worth it.
