Hi,

The BCD436HP comes with a USB cable that you use for data transfers and 
charging.  It comes with three rechargeable batteries and the scanner won't 
recharge those batteries until you turn on the recharging circuit in the 
menus.

When you first hook up your 436 to your computer, you will be asked to 
install software to your computer that will update the scanner.  Both the 
436 and 536 work the same way regarding installation and they are not touch 
screen scanners.  The home patrol 1 was completely touch screen operated and 
that scanner will not do phase 2 digital p25.

Matt, I haven't had a chance to do much with the menus yet, but that's on my 
bucket list!

The BCD436HP is made by Uniden/Bearcat, and costs about $500, though
you might be able to get it for less on Amazon.  Funny thing:  It
doesn't come with a wall charger.--Matt.
