Steve, thanks for giving that 480 a shot. I figured it would work to some
extent. Even the commands to the old PIEXX board that went in my TS-930 are
the same, as far as they go at least. In fact, the Elecraft K3 commands
look amazingly like the Kenwood commands too.

In the interest of science, truth, justice and the American way, I
tried it on my 480. As Jim thought, it partly does work. Not
surprised, since I think most logging programs only have one or two
Kenwood selections when choosing radio. I think for the most part the
control stuff is pretty standard across the board for recent models.

Of course, the menus don't work since the list of menus varies from the
2000, to the 590, to the 480.

The things I see on the main screen seem to all work: Freq display,
pre-amp, attenuator, power out, mic gain proc in and out, etc.

I've never been a big fan of controlling the radio via pc, but Jim's
software makes it easy for me to overcome the mechanical problems with
my 2000 and keep track of those settings that are set by the multi knob.
