Hi;
If I am correct and you have a kenwood 570 that will have more 
than adequate output to drive your amplifier which I believe you 
said is now working thanks to the band switch.  Going from 200 
wats to 500 or 600 probably didn't give you a drastic change in s 
meter reading at the other end.  Thankfully I've never had any 
issues buying used radios.  richard
