If you blew the finals, you must be running them out of tune.  Those sweep 
tubes have a lot of output, much more than you will need for your amp.  They 
however are very touchy and must be tuned up for resonance which is also 
minimum current draw.  Think about springing for a radio like a used ts-480. 
You will have far fewer problems.
