I am a CW traffic handler. I deliver a lot of messages to hams who have just received their license. I would say that 90% of them do not yet have a radio, have gotten their license because they are a member of volunteer fire spotting or other public service groups. They usually have no idea as to what ham radio really is. Their knowledge goes no further than a friend’s HT.

Perhaps a few of these new hams will remain in ham radio and eventually migrate to HF.

Friendship is like peeing your pants, everyone can see it, but only you can feel the true warmth.
