Tom, sometimes you can lay the mic buttons up and shoot a small shot of 
Deoxit down through the cracks between the buttons and do that once a day 
for two or three days and surprising it works it's way into the contacts. 
Not always but worth a try.  G L and 73.

Hi, all.



I have an old Kenwood TMV7A dual-band rig, and the stock mic for the rig has
developed a problem.



Actually, I began to notice it back when I had the rig in our family vehicle
10 or 15 years ago, especially when the weather got cold.



Basically, the buttons on the mic key pad have become just about unusable
for entering frequencies and other basic parameters.  Sometimes, if you
press down on them quite hard, you can get them to work, but it has become
quite a struggle.



I don't think the mic itself is dirty or dusty, because I always take good
care of my equipment.



It seems as though there is something wrong with the internal workings of
the buttons themselves.



Several years ago, I seem to recall a discussion of this issue on the list,
but can't remember the details if it did, in fact occur.



Any thoughts would be appreciated, before I totally junk the mic, and decide
whether to get a new one, or just sell the rig without the mic.



All other rig buttons and control functions seem to work fine.
