HI,
Which ham satellites do people on this list like to use?
I'm just getting started in amateur satellite communications, and I'm having
trouble discovering which satellites are active. I've used the Amsat
tracking and Heaven's Above pages to determine satellite passes, but the
sites don't distinguish between active and inactive birds. Several resources
point to the OSCAR Satellite Status page by KD5QGR:
http://oscar.dcarr.org/
but that page seems a little hard to practically parse with a screen reader.
(I read lots of 1's and 2's in a row, but it's not clear which satellite or
which date the numbers refer too).
I'm interested in FM-only or CW/SSB satellites (up through 70 cm. My station
is very modest at this point. I've been able to her SO-50, but I don't know
what else to listen for.
BTW,I recently purchased a Yaesu FTV-107R 50/144/432 transverter. I'm very
impressed at how well this early-80s vintage unit works with the Kenwood
TS-590s. The low drive output from the Kenwood matches the Yaesu input
requirements quite well, The Kenwood seems to have all the other settings
needed to operate the transverter as well. I'm a lucky ham to have found
this!
Thanks for your help!
