I remember the old Eye Bank net. They used to ship eyes around the country
for cornea transplants. I knew Dr. Brailley, W0GET, from Iowa City who was
a regular checkin. That's right, his name was Brailley, and he was head of
the eye department at University Hospital in Iowa City. I think the Eye
Bank net was all he did with his rig. As I recall, he had a Collins S-line
and a conical monopole antenna, but I could be mistaken there.

Very interesting, Phil.

This is a good example of the importance of the public service work that
hams try to do.

Tom,

As I recall, the guy who had K9DOG was a net control many years ago, in the
sixties, that was called that Eye Bank Net. They located, through doctors
and hospitals, Corneas to be shipped via air to needed patients.

Phil.
