I wrote to Fred Lloyd about his QRZ website several months ago when this
issue came up on this list before. I thought rather than just bitching about
how inaccessible his website was, it would be more productive to write a
very friendly, congenial message to him, starting out by complimenting him
on providing such an excellent website to the ham community, but many of the
blind hams are not finding it as accessible as it could be. I listed the
components that were not accessible, based on the feedback I received from
several people on this list, and then, I offered our assistance in helping
him make the few changes that would turn his site into a very accessible,
premier site. I don't believe in just complaining unless I can offer a
solution.

However, I got back a very terse response, clearly informing me that his
site was fine the way it was, and that he had no intensions of changing it.
He stated that it was the way it was to minimize hackers from getting into
his site and database and messing it up. He stated it was as it was because
of security reasons, and he was not going to modify it simply to satisfy a
very small number of users.

I am paraphrasing because it has been quite a while ago since he and I
communicated, but even though I used my most tactful communications and
persuasion techniques, he had no interest in working with us.

Since he and Alan are such good friends, perhaps, Alan can assist in this
matter. Personally, I prefer the eHam website. It is fully accessible to me
using JAWS.
