hi Barb,

No problem.

Press and hold the A/B button while powering up the radio.    A/B is 
third key in the second row of the keys to the right of the VFO knob. 
When it powers up, release the A/B key and the voice will ask for 
conformation.  She will either say "full reset?" or  "VFO reset".  Turn 
the multi knob to get the one you want.  VFO reset is a partial reset 
and should save memories and menus.  Full reset blows everything away to 
default specs.

When you hear the one you want: Full or VFO reset, hit the A/B key again 
and it will happen.

If you have the ARCP-590 software, you can save all your settings first 
and even do the reset from the software.

I don't know about the VFO reset, but in a full reset you will lose some 
things like power setting, mic gain,   carrier, etc.
