Three people said that they were able to eat gluten-free on the auto-train.  

And one gave suggestions for eating in Lorton, VA...where the train begins or ends, depending upon your direction.
Eating in Lorton:
"There is a Z-pizza (my favorite GF pizza for eating out) , Glory Days (though I haven't tried it, they have a GF menu), a Thai restaurant, and a Baskin Robbins, all just around the corner from the station. "

As it turns out, my husband wants to drive home from FL, instead of taking the train, because we can make stops to visit friends or family along the way.  Or sightsee, if the weather is conducive.
