Bread Mold:
Is it safe to just break off the moldy spot on a slice of bread, but
eat the rest? No, says Consumer Reports On Health. With a soft food
like bread, removing the visible mold won't necessarily remove all of
the mold. Eating the bread may cause diarrhea or stomach upset. You
can, however, safely eat hard foods such as cheese and fruit after
removing the mold. Just be sure to cut at least a half inch off
around the moldy area, the newsletter advises.
