After somebody accessed a computer, ruined that PLUS my router, I got a modem/router combination from my ISP (rogers) & have it in my sight. When I saw lights flickering on the router for my computer (turned off ) & a computer on my bench (off as well) I now turn OFF the power bar for my computer if I'm not going online in the next 1/2 hour. That will help keep the hackers out. When I'm not working on a computer on the bench I also pull the power cord out as a protection move. Al Smith

I haven't worked with Windows 7 yet, but my first suspect would be the
"Scheduled Tasks" application. In XP it's in the Control Panel. You
might check that. Even if you turn off the automatic option within
defrag itself, a scheduled task might take precedence over that.
I would be a bit concerned about my operating system having the power
to actually turn my computer on if this turns out to be the cause. I
guess I better start playing around with Windows 7 to see what kind of
things it can do.
Cheers!
