Hi Richard,
Well i have not tryed using the ts2000 with a computer so can't answer that 
well.
However i think it would work ok with jaws.
I have like the ts2000 i think it is plenty accsessable for me.
That sed to me it comes down to what you want in a rig.
If your thinking about operating two meter and 70cm ssb and maybe 23 cm.
Then the ts2000 is a better choice.
If your only going to operate hf and six meters then i would go with the 
590.
