Tom, why not just use the 12 bolt bats in your R V and then you don't have 
to mess with powers plies, the converter in your R V will keep the bats 
charged, much simpler.  73

I believe the Samlex supply I have is 30-amp continuous, and 35 amp surge,
which should be more than enough for anything I might need out at the camp
site, but as I indicated earlier, I'm considering other options if it turns
out that I'm wrong.

The reason for all of this is that my XYL and I have traded our 7-year-old
drivable motor home in for a larger stand-alone trailer, and I'll be running
my TMV71A from my main operating position, rather than from the cab of the
original drivable RV.

Hello Tom,  I can't give you the published current requirements, but I have
my TS480SAT connected to a 30 amp switcher, and there is also a pair of
commercial Kenwood mobiles connected to it, and just for the fun of it, I
put the 480 on RTTY, and then keyed all 3 rigs up at the same time.  The 30
amp supply was more than enough for all 3 rigs being keyed up at full
throttle at the same time.  BTW, you didn't state which version of the 480
you have.  Clearly the 200 watt HX model will draw more than the 100 watt
model like mine.

I am going to be re-vamping my ham radio  setup out at the RV this summer,
and was wondering if someone happens to know the amperage power draw for the
TS480.



I'm looking for the non-transmit amperage, plus the maximum amperage if
transmitting in CW or RTTY mode at 100 watts.



For some reason, the text version of the manual that I have only gives me a
partial list of specifications, and current draw is not one of them.



I can obviously approximate, but the actual figures would be preferred.



I'm trying to figure out the best power supply arrangement to have out at
the camp site.



I'll also be using a TMV71A for VHF and UHF, and am trying to see if one of
my power supplies will be enough to power both rigs.  This assumes, of
course, that I'll not be transmitting with both the TS480 and TMV71A
simultaneously.
