A friend was on a DX-pedition last year to some small, gawd forsaken island in the pacific. Took ‘em like almost 40 hours to get there.

After the DX-pedition was over, someone posted a recording on the internet of what the operator was hearing. I listened to it for several minutes. I would say, 95% of the time, the station that I would have answered is the one that the operator did answer. It was very interesting to hear the pile up from his prospective.

Back in 1985 or ‘86 I was in Australia. I got the temporary call of VK2BVS. I was able to go over to a ham’s house who had a 40 meter beam up about 80 feet. It was great fun calling CQ on 40 meters and working the pile up.

First you forget names,
then you forget faces.
Then you forget to pull up your zipper...
it's worse when you forget to pull it down.
