for that price, I agree with the general sentiment.
kenwood ts440, 450, 850, 570, or 870.
Not perfect, but all will work well.
In the icom world, the 706 mark II or II-G. Better if you also get a qsyer.
Available for about $50 for a blind ham.
Just google qsyer, and you'll find it.
This is a keypad that allows direct frequency entry, and announces key
information in morse.
With a little memorization, and paying attention, the 706 series with the
qsyer is pretty blind friendly. Not as good as the newest kenwoods, but
very workable.
For just a little more, look for a used kenwood ts2000.
100 watts 160 through 2 meters, and 25 (I think) on 70 cm.
Very accessible, and all mode all band. A lot of radio for the money.
