comeon  don’t tell her stuff like that. first her radio is not capable of sideband mode, and second, if you are goig to work that mode an outside antenna with good cable,and usually a preamp is required. Us old time hams get that, but saying something lilt hat to a ham who is not experienced yet is rather misleading and cruel. Placing a mag mount antenna like that is also dangerous, especially if she has pets. The metal of a filing cabinet also might not hold the antenna in that position, since it is not designed for that kind of use.
