Thank you all so much for your responses to my question.  Here is a summary of E-mails received. 



-   Any IV antibiotic would be gluten-free 



-   Most antibiotics do cause side effects, especially diarrhea 



-   one person had an allergic reaction,  and high doses of other antibiotics which had nothing to do with gluten 



-   Pain killers weren't a problem; however, no company was willing to guarantee their antibiotics were gluten free 

     that person then took high quality herb Oil of Oregano 



-   Acidophlus will get stomach back in order
