The field order you have set up for AC Log looks very interesting to me.

I may try it out to see if it works better for me than my current tab
arrangement.

Maybe my best strategy would be only to tab into the time field once I've
worked the station.

I'll continue to troubleshoot things here, and see if I can come up with a
more consistent explanation and reasoning behind what is happening.

My time on and time off are only a few minutes off at the very most, so, as
long as I'm careful, there should not be any problems with L O T W matches.

I like the idea of a SKYPE session on A C Log, although I'm not sure exactly
how we would coordinate it, given everyone's schedules and different time
zones.

It is certainly good food for thought, though.


P.S.  It was great to hear you on the blind ops net today.  Your signal was
a solid 5 by 7 into central lower Michigan.  I am curious as to the extent
you were able to copy me today.

On the time issue, I think I will need a detailed example unless you figure
it out <smile>.  The Time Off is set when you log the contact, but the Time
On is set when you tab into the Time field.  If you take 20 minutes to crack
the pile up, having tabbed into the Time field, this will cause a 20 minute
difference.  This could be an advantage if you want to record the time you
are transmitting, but might cause you to miss your LOTW match, as you only
have a 15 minute over-lap from when you work the station.

For my own AC Log layout, I have moved the Date and Time fields further down
the tabbing order.  Having them as the second and third fields is fine when
you are running the frequency, but is hopeless when you're waiting to work a
busy station.  In AC Log, many things are triggered when you tab away from
the Callsign field, and so having the Date and Time field second and third
can set the time before you are ready.

Sometimes I'm in a pile up for an hour, trying to work an expedition, and I
only tab into the Time field when I've worked them!

My field order is Callsign, Name, Power, RST Sent, RST Received, and then
Date and Time.  Because my typing is not fluent at the moment, as I injured
my finger, I find this works for S&P.
