Hi;
I have had a noise problem ever since I moved to this house.
Whether its power line noise or not I'm open to suggestions. I'm
using a ts480 and with the preamp off and the a g c on my noise
level is a constant s 5. Doesn't matter what band or what
frequency. Unfortunately I'm using only one antenna for h f so
don't have anything else to compare it with. Initially I was
told that verticals are just noisy antennas. In reality, however
this kind of means that a signal has to almost be s 7 to have
comfortable copy. That rules out lots of stations and listening
around the bands isn't the fun it was when things were quieter.
I've taken a radio outside but didn't see any areas where things
were worse or quieter. I'll have to get it together and go out
with that radio again this spring. Will spring ever come?
As for older radios I've sold some things on qthcom ánd had good
luck. I found it an easy site to just brouse through Now if I
could get this noise down to an
s 3 I'd probably have a ts480 for sale.  Haven't decided if my
fingers are to big or those buttons are to small.
Richard
