Its a stand alone unit, I have no idea how to turn off the wireless part.

Is your router a stand alone device or is it part of your internet modem?

I don't have a solution other than replacing the router.  Routers are
relatively cheap, especially just routers without a modem, and changing to a
different brand router would probably be easier than guessing Toroid values
unless someone can tell you what value to try.

Does this router have wireless capabilities, if so, have you tried turning
off the wireless to see if that part is the culprit?

Just my thought for what it's worth.
