For those who are interested, I have the Winkeyer working with AC 
Log.  This morning I put in a different USB cable and that did the 
trick.  I don't know whether the cable was defective or just didn't 
have all the lines the Winkeyer needed.  I seem to remember hearing 
that all USB cables are not created equal.
