My guess is "yes"... I would first try to let Windows auto-detect the printer hooked up in this manner, and, if it is detected, use the default settings Windows will provide. If not, Windows allows you to create a port, and using this procedure might allow you to connect an undetected printer by creating a "pseudo-parallel port" on a USB connection. If so, you might have to always be certain to plug the USB cable into the same physical port on the computer. As indicated with my apparently glib response, this is just a guess...
