Registration is now open for an extraordinary workshop led by registered dietitian and celiac expert Melinda Dennis, on celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and the gluten-free diet. Geared towards registered dietitians, certified clinical nutritionists, nutrition students, and nutrition service directors, this hands on workshop is a must for anyone wanting to maximize their knowledge of the gluten-free diet. With an estimated 1 % of the US population having celiac disease, an unknown but ever growing percentage with non-celiac gluten-sensitivity, and another ~83 % of Americans with celiac disease that are undiagnosed or misdiagnosed with other medical conditions, there is a great need for clinicians to counsel and safely support this patient population.

Workshop Details: Melinda Dennis and guest speaker Kimberly Newton, MD, Director of the Celiac Center, Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, will cover the following topics:
-Counseling patients with celiac disease and non-celiac gluten-sensitivity.
-Assessment of labs, common nutritional deficiencies, and supplements.
-Food label reading and the new gluten-free labeling law.
-Highlights from the 2013 International Celiac Disease Symposium.
-Group work and a case study review on celiac disease.
-Recommended gluten-free food and supplement companies, plus product sampling opportunities from our sponsors.
