You can hold down the CWT button, third button from the right, while powering on. This will put the morse readout on and set it at 20 WPM. If you have a computer handy, with the KX3 utility, in the command tester, you can send a string to it to set the speed. It would go mn071;mp19X;mn255; [enter]

Where X is a number between 2 and 9, setting speed from 10 WPM onwards in 5 WPM steps. I have mine set as
mn071;mp197;mn255;
