It works very well but you have to hook it up to your laptop (with OpenBook on it). I have worked with it extensively, trained a teacher how to use it, she takes it to meetings. I have seen a device today called an eBot which is an interesting option. http://hims-inc.com/products/e-bot-ipad-compatible-portable-video-magnifier/. And I thought this product was really exciting, if all you need is OCR and not anything visual: http://hims-inc.com/products/blaze-ez-daisy-multi-player-with-ocr/.

Subject: [VICUG-L] anyone use/ know about Pearl portable reading solution?
Hello to all,
I am thinking about purchasing this device to use for school and on the go transaction. I am familiar with open book in which this device uses to format printed documents into text. Hopefully, there is someone out here that is familiar with this product. I am trying to figure out if it would be better to just use open book at home or does this little device really work. I want to be able to read documents while in class vs having to wait to get home and convert the document.
Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated...
D. Banks
