Harry,

It certainly does sound like it's time for a new computer. I agree with 
Mike. If you're interested in saving time, learning Windows 8.1 is a 
shorter learning curve than learning the Mac.

I used a Mac off and on for about three years. I'm glad I did it because 
I can walk up to any Mac anywhere and use it, and I may own a Mac again 
in future, but I never quite got used to the multifinger Voiceover 
commands, even when I unplugged my Windows machine and went Mac-only for 
two months.

I seem to remember that you've used an iPad, probably with a keyboard. 
the experience will be much the same.

The only one of your concerns I can speak to directly is Flash. That 
wasn't available on the Mac when I used it, and I believe this has not 
changed. Flash content is very common on the web, and I missed access to 
it when I was a Mac user.

I know you can run a virtual machine, but I think it's kind of silly to 
run two computers in one since the point of having a computer is to rely 
on it to get stuff done. The reason I finally gave up the Mac was that I 
found myself having to go back to Windows for work stuff because the Mac 
didn't have comparable work related software that was accessible or 
because Safari wasn't supported by this or that work site or because I 
was having trouble accessing some of the advanced features of Pages, etc.
