Some players use the ID3 tags (AKA MP3 tags) to organize and display
audio files. This is meta data included in an audio file that includes
information on artist, album and so on. This is usually filled in for
you automatically when you rip a CD, and it's already included in
downloaded music. If you're creating your own audio files though, or
your material is pretty unique, then you may need to edit this yourself.
I believe you can do this with Windows Explorer. I'm also sure iTunes
will provide this feature too. There are plenty of other 3rd party
programs you could also use. I use a command line tool in Linux, so I
can't help you.
