Interestingly, it not only covers computers, but stuff with computer chips
in them, cell phones cars busses ETC. It's amazing the stuff you never
think of that would become paperweights if there was an EMP.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I agree that attacking computer systems
is more harmful to the nation as a whole than attacking structures or
populous areas, but I don't understand why we suddenly need to panic about
it now. Big business and other services managed with little or no access to
the internet within my own lifetime; they can do it again, though admittedly
things would be less quick and convenient than we've come to expect.
