I have never heard of that one. I'd like to hear it.

Yep, he saved Liberty Records from bankruptcy with the Witch
Doctor which
was number 1 for three weeks in the summer, and then that
hoola-hoop song
which was number 1 for four weeks. I think it got released
December 7th and
sold four million copies by Christmas.

By the way, does anybody have that Christmas Humor CD from 2003
that is no
longer in print? It has songs on it like an Elvis Presley
immitator doing
Return to Santa. If anybodey does, let me know; I can't find
that album
since it is out of print.

Indeed, John. In fact, David Seville did all the chipmunk
voices. They
are
exactly doubled, as I discovered when I slowed my old talking
book machine
down to 16 and 2 thirds rpm with a chipmunks album on it.
Dave's speaking
voice was nearly impossible to understand but he sang Simon,
Theodore and
Alvin in perfect 3-part harmony. At 16, It was easy to tell it
was him
doing the singing. He got a lot of milage out of that chipmunk
idea.

Wasn't the way that whole thing was started when Dave sped up
his own
voice
for a song he did in the 50's?

Good way of putting it, Howard.

I still remember when I was a kid, and one day, I played a
Chipmunks
Christmas song from a 45 RPM record at 33 RPM, and suddenly
figured out
that
the Chipmunks were really men whose voices were just sped up to
play the
part.

I don't know how many kids I told that to, after it was
discovered, but
to
this day, I sometimes feel a bit guilty about how many
children's
ilusions
I
shattered. (smile)

Yes it is. Silly engineers.
Its like an old record player. Remember playing the 33's on 45,
or say
even
earlier, the 45's on 78?
