Hello Kelvin,

I personally like the way that the 480 is setup. I can locate the control
head on top of another piece of equipment, which saves scarce desk space,
and place the main radio unit under the desk where space is at less of a
premium. Naturally I chose the control head's location carefully, and
placed it on top of my Icom 775DSP where there aren't any ventilation slots
to block. The 775DSP and 480 control head are straight in front of me,
making the controls easy to reach.

Hi All,

The 440 and radios of that ilk use the VS-1. The 850 and radios of that ilk
use the VS-2. These radios are getting old, and the VS-1 and VS-2 are hard
to get.

The 570 and 2000 use the VS-3. The VS-3 is still available, and the 570 is
a robust radio. It was discontinued due to the ban on leaded solder.

The newer 480 and 590 use the VGS-1.

I would personally go for a 570 or 480. There are accessibility reviews on
the Active Elements site. The 480 has the better voice chip, but is a
remote head with a separate main unit.

Best wishes, Kelvin Marsh - M0AID

doesn't the vs1, the same one that works with the tmv71A work with the
TS440?
