Steve, I found it in the manual and it seems the same for the 480
as you describe for the 590. Jim

Subject: Re: vfo reset

hi Barb,

No problem.

Press and hold the A/B button while powering up the radio. A/B
is
third key in the second row of the keys to the right of the VFO
knob.
When it powers up, release the A/B key and the voice will ask for
conformation. She will either say "full reset?" or "VFO reset".
Turn
the multi knob to get the one you want. VFO reset is a partial
reset
and should save memories and menus. Full reset blows everything
away to
default specs.

When you hear the one you want: Full or VFO reset, hit the A/B
key again
and it will happen.

If you have the ARCP-590 software, you can save all your settings
first
and even do the reset from the software.

I don't know about the VFO reset, but in a full reset you will
lose some
things like power setting, mic gain, carrier, etc.

Good luck, Steve KW3A

 Anyone have experience with this?
