Our friend, Steve, (KW3A) is one of our resident experts on the Winkeyer.
he has served as my Elmer in terms of helping me get mine set up to work
with my logging laptop.

I received my Winkeyer about 2 weeks ago, and absolutely love it.  I used it
in last week's CQ 160-meter CW contest.  It sends the code perfectly, and
has been an immense improvement over the older serial port keyer that I was
trying to use with the N3FJP contest logging software.

I have not yet figured out how to use the unit as a stand-alone keyer, but I
know it is possible.

When you get yours, and if you figure out how to use it without being
connected to a PC, please feel free to give me some hints and ideas on
getting it set up for that purpose.

Finally, I wonder if you had your unit assembled by K1EL himself?  I took
this route, because I wasn't sure I had the help around here to get the unit
built successfully.  For the extra $20, and a little more time, it was well
worth it to me.

As my voice isn't yet improving, I have a feeling that I had best start
working a bunch more CW.  I can still copy well over 30, but my hand is
shaky due to taking powerful narcotic painkillers over an extended period of
time.  Toward that end, I have just ordered a WinKeyer.  I understand that
it can be used with, and without, being connected to the PC.  If anyone has
any advice or suggestions about its best use, I'd love to hear them.
