Glad you are back!

Check with echolink, I think their are versions for the mac and i-phone.
I haven't kept up on that.
CW should work, you'll have to experiment with listening frequencies.  A 
friend of mine who is partially deaf, works stations I can't even hear.  He 
has open frequency knotches, so his ears act like audio filters.
Handy Hams might have more ideas.
