that is completely unpardonable. unless you took a lightning strike, it is obvious that the amp was a lemon, as any amp worth owning should protect itself no matter what you do., even transmitting into an open or shorted coax should do nothing more than she the amplifier down, and I wouldn’t own anything that was so weak and unreliable. This is an area that I imagine tube finals still beat solid state hands down, although having never owned an amp, and likely never to own one, i wouldn’t know.
