Subject: [PCBUILD] computer hangs during update
I had something happen to me that's never happened before. I was doing
my weekly update of Windows 7, and I did the restart, and left. I came
back in two hours and I was on the screen that said, "Updating Your
Computer Do Not Turn Off Your Computer," or something like that. But,
it was hung up at 30%. The three-fingered salute would not work, nor
pressing esc, del, and whatever else. I had to force a hard shut down
by holding the power key down for four seconds.
When it came back on the next time, I had it start as normal and all
seems fine. I think that nothing bad has resulted.
Anyone have any suggestions of things that I should be doing?
I have had some quirks since I built this a year ago, using the latest
hardware. It's possible I have some kind of a memory problem. I tried
to have the memory check at boot turned on in the bios of my ASUS ROG
motherboard, but I doubt if it is running. It doesn't seem to have the
"slow boot" like earlier bios that take time to run a memory test. Are
there some memory tests built into 7 that I can use or online? I have
four 4GB DDR4 sticks of Corsair Vengeance Memory.
