When I was out in Colorado from 2009-2010, we rented a house from a woman
whose brother had been a ham.

Talk about a stroke of luck!

Anyway, if I remember correctly, we put up my Alpha Delta DXCC out there
with no drilling of holes in the house. We attached the ends of the antenna
to available trees and a fence post, and just let the center hang between
the ends.

The antenna was not that high, but it did work, as those who were involved
in the inaugural sessions of our 20-meter net and 40-meter round table will
verify.

So, with a little creativity, I think you can preserve marital bliss, and
get on the air.

And, who knows, maybe as a result, you will be able to interest your XYL in
this great hobby of ours.

Hi Tom and the group:

One thing that I know would be helpful is if you could say a few prayers for
my wife. I have the most wonderful wife in the world. She is not a ham, and
she is trying to understand this crazy hobby her husband is in to. I feel
sorry for her. She is very kind, and wants to know how I am going to mount
an antenna. Personally, it seems to me that avoiding drilling holes in the
house, may add to marital bliss. You know, my WF is a gift from God. I
really treasure her. Even more than ham radio if it came to that. I do
believe I will have some version of radio though. Smile.

God bless,
Mark
