Hi Tom,

Ah, yes, I love Winamp and will continue using it no matter how long
after they stop development, but there's that pesky JAVA based Windows
Update screen--which unless someone bails AOL and Winamp out in the next
2 weeks or so won't matter any more any way, but you need to turn off
check for automatic updates in the Winamp Preferences.

1. From the Winamp main Window, Press Control + P for preferences.
2. Press the home key to move to the top of the Tree View.
3. _Using up/down arrow keys, make sure you are in the general
preferences branch.
4. tab until you hear 'check for new versions of Winamp at start up'
check box and make sure it is unchecked.
5. Tab until you hear close button and press enter or space bar.

If you want to make it a bit easier perhaps you should download the
latest version of Winamp version 5.66 from their website or I can mail
you a link on Send Space for it if it is no longer there. This version
is currently the last version that will be available, so it will not
check for updates.
