I am a private IT contractor and projects I have worked on include:
Assistant network admin for a Marine research company in the Bahamas and in this job I was on a small team who installed a c-band satellite link that was used for all communications on and off the island both voice and data.
This was in about 2001.
For the satellite services we used atm over satellite and for the phone services we used an Altigen server to start and then later converted over to Asterisk.
The other exciting project I was involved with on this contract was an under-water camera system.

These days my days are mainly spent supporting a local voip company doing engineering of the systems required to support the deployment for voice services to small and medium businesses.

I find that working on small teams with people who understand what my limits are is what has made my life easier when it comes to being accepted by the general public.
Most times I work remotely so my blindness is never known by the customers I interface with when I do.

Thanks,
Tom
