Sounds like you need a replacement. I have had mine for over 10 years, and 
still works like a champ.

Hi all, I'm not sure I have the same thermostat, but I keep getting the
message about having your system checked, even after taking out the
batteries!  Whare is this NO button?  The only button that speaks on mine
is the one at the bottom left, wich announces the tempature.  When I
first got it, it would speak the settings as I arrowed up and down, but
it doesn't do that anymore!  Non of the buttons under the flip down cover
speak!
