With no cartridge or flash drive connected and the player turned on, press 
fast forward and speed down simultaneously for about 3 seconds.  The player 
should say "reduced verbosity."

I just got a new digital machine.  The last one I had you could use a key
command to have it not be as verbose.  For example when it's fast forwarding
or rewinding in QST.  It would only announce the time.  And not the words
fast forward or rewind.  Does anyone know how to activate this? I can't find
anything in the instructions.
