Hi Tom,
So far, the W1AW stations have been straightforward to work from the UK, and
I've seen a mixture of simplex and split. I always prefer to find a busy
station working Split, so I can clearly hear them! It's not so bad when you
can't hear any locals calling, such as on the higher bands, but on 40, I
would think your signal would be lost among the very strong nearby callers,
if you work simplex.
Best wishes, Kelvin Marsh - M0AID

Thanks for sending this along, David.
If anyone is interested, I have volunteered to represent Michigan on
Saturday: February 22 from 4 - 6 p.m. Eastern (2100 - 2300 Z) on 40 meter
SSB.
I may do more, but didn't want to volunteer for too much the first time
around, in case I run into issues with A C log and ADIF file conversion.
If things work out well, and I can volunteer for more operating time during
the first go-around, I will definitely let everyone know.
On a related note, I'm getting the impression that split frequency operating
is the preferred way to go for this event, given the large pileups that
folks are having. Fortunately, that seems quite easy to do with the TS590.
