Now that I think about it, I do have Office 2003 here, which should contain 
Outlook.

So, this is  another possibility worth considering if I can't get Outlook 
2010 going well here.

One question I might ask is if you use Outlook 2003 as a stand-alone e-mail 
program, or if you try to interface it with g-mail.  And, if you do 
interface it with g-mail, do you use the pop.3 server or the IMAP option?
