Radials will be the key to your vertical's performance. Hopefully you can
get some out that are at least 32 feet long (quarter-wave on 40 meters).
Try to get that length even if a wire or two has to go around the corner of
the house; in a restricted situation you need coverage, even if the radials
are not straight radial lines.

Subject: New Antenna coming!

Hi All
As you may remember I was having SWR problems with my Gap Challenger so =
was planning to take it down so as to check it out. Unfortunately before =
I could get it down under a controlled environment it came down all buy =
itself due to some heavy weather over this last weekend. The resulting =
damage was so extensive that it has been dismantled for disposal. That's =
the bad news! The good news is that I just ordered a DX Engineering 6BTV =
for 80/40/30/20/15/10 meters. The new antenna should be here sometime =
early next week. Yes, I know, it needs radials so I have a few ideas to =
try out in my extremely small patio area. Also, later on, I can get =
ad-ons for 12/17 and 60 meters.=20

Stay tuned for the next exciting chapter hahaha!

Best of 73's,
Albert, WA7FXB
