Well, actually, the first computer I ever owned was a Xerox 360 or something
like that. It used the CPM operating system, but I don't hardly consider
that as my first computer because it had no speech synthesizer of any kind,
and I had no way of operating it myself. My wife used it, and we used it
mostly for creating custom resumes and cover letters when I was looking for
a new position following my resignation from Loyola University. It was
pretty neat to be able to pull up a resume and cover letter saved on the
drive, and with the word processor, make a few quick changes and produce a
custom resume and cover letter tailored specifically to meet the
needs/requirements of the particular university to which I was applying for
a position. Now, we don't think anything about those kinds of capabilities,
but back then, that was amazing stuff!

It is like comparing the days when we were required to maintain an accurate
log of all our contacts, and we kept it all in a log book, literally, and
handwritten compared to today when we maintain such information all on
computer, and we debate which logging program is the most accessible, and
some of that information is even maintained automatically for us with a
program that interacts with our totally digital transceivers!

Oh, I also owned a Radio Shack TRS-80 too, but it stored everything on
cassette tapes as I recall. We thought it was pretty neat to be able to
create flashing signs with it! <lol>

Damn! I'm old! <lol>
