I changed the subject line.

Harvey I've noticed that when I use the search feature by either hitting F3,
Windows key f or s, I get the search box, but when I type something in that
box, the resulting list is not reported by either window-eyes or NVDA. Do
you have the same issue?

The combination keys of windows key and F will put you in the search box in
Windows 8, but overall, I'd still have to give Windows 8 and 8.1 an F.

One really neat thing about windows 7 which Microsoft took away in windows 8

and 8.1, is when you hit the windows key, your placed in a search box that
will allow you to find anything on your computer. If you bring up the
control panel, and it is not in list mode, your in a search box that will
let you find what your looking for quickly rather than looking through link
after link.
