I just finished my first book using my iPhone 5S to read the NLS downloadable books.  It works great.  The app is pretty easy to get used to and the sound of the reading is normal and I specifically, a few months ago, bought a 64 GB phone for the NLS books.  Now I can carry one device around instead of two.
